Nights Setting Technician (Setter)

Reporting to: Senior Setting Engineer

Main Duties

  • Be involved with and responsible for tool changes and setting machines
  • Complete supervised tool trials
  • To produce goods to our quality standard in the most effective and efficient way
  • To understand requirements and follow instruction safely.
  • Follow Senior Setters guidelines of setting best practice.
  • Operate an overhead crane to hang tools and pallet trucks to move materials
  • Usage and set up of auxiliary equipment
  • Safe set up of jigs and fixtures
  • Complete training record for each job and job card forms
  • Complete setting details and BOM sheets as required at start of job and identify improvement initiatives, eliminating the requirement for return visits from setters.
  • Perform daily safety checks of machines and fill in daily safety sheets
  • Keep a clean, tidy and safe working environment (housekeeping).
  • Set machines to approved quality standard and achieve minimal reject rates during run
  • Set machine tolerances and safety times
  • Complete new setting sheets or update and store program in machine memory.
  • Liaising with other staff as required.
  • Actively participate in company, product & process improvement activities.
  • To help with training of staff in injection moulding processes
  • Other duties as required of the role.

SKILLS

  • Minimum of 3 years Setting experience
  • Minimum of Level 2 Qualification in polymer processing and injection moulding
  • Documenting and using setting sheets
  • Good knowledge of various polymers
  • An understanding of the factory equipment, environment and processes
  • Calculation of product requirements
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels
  • Self-motivated with the ability to cope with change within a busy working environment
  • Strong positive character to motivate others
  • Health and Safety competence
  • Manual Handling competence
  • Familiarity and competent in reading technical drawings
  • Relevant in-house or technical training qualification
  • Understanding of SMED
