The new equipment and its smart manufacturing 4.0 capacity, provides continuation and expansion of our round the clock, high volume, moulded, and in-moulded electronic window operations. This addition has also increased our capacity to 22 fully networked injection moulding machines.

    Evolution Continues

    February 2018

Development is well underway in refurbishing one of our bespoke shop floor manufacturing areas.

    This area will encompass:

    • Our Cable End Connector over-moulding cell.
    • Technical finishing and speaker front covering.
    • Ultrasonic welding and printing facilities.

This development will create extra space to support our growing customer-specific needs.

    Completion due Mid March.

    Happy New 50th Year

    January 2018

2018 marks a special occasion in Nordell’s history. It's 50 years since its first company registration as Component Moulders at King Edward Close Worthing. We will be sure to celebrate throughout the whole of 2018.

The industry has come a long way from 1968. This picture shows our first ever moulding machine, the first of its type to be delivered to a manufacturer in the UK, as advertised in the PRW all those years ago.

A 20oz, 300t Akesson 550 Injection Moulding Machine. Purchased from Sweden, it cost £14,500, when average house prices would have been £3,900 in the area.

A great big thank you to everyone for your donations, laughs and fun, along with your sacrifice of street credibility in our non-uniform Christmas Jumper Day. We would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We will be shut for the Christmas period – finishing on Friday the 22nd December and returning in the New Year on January 2nd with our strategic advantage.

    Highly Commended

    November 2017

We were pleased to support our local Adur & Worthing Business Awards and the Love your Hospital charity, along with the 370 attendees on the recent 2017 award night. The culmination of a further year of changes saw us win the “Highly Commended” achievement under the Manufacturing and Engineering category.

Commenting on this success, Nordell’s Managing Director Paul Mason: “This reward is dedicated to everyone at Nordell, in recognition of all our efforts and hard work on the improvement we have made. From our customer support process investment, implementation of our new ERP system, upgrading our Quality Management System, adoption of environmental technological developments across all factories, and to realising our potential through further training and coaching. Nordell Feature in Plastics and Rubber Weekly

Worthing-based plastics processor Nordell has installed a Romi EN100 machine and said it expected to save between a quarter and a third of the running costs on existing 100 tonne machines it has in production.

The firm, which produces standard and bespoke products and tooling for customers in aerospace, automotive, medical and electrical sectors, bought the machine with a particular contract in mind, according to product manager Liam Price, but it was now manufacturing a range of other products 24 hours a day, five days a week.

“We had planned to replace an older machine but in fact the EN100 has become an additional line due to demand.

“We looked at four manufacturers but the Romi was our preferred choice. The platen size is good compared to other 100 tonne machines, it has a small footprint and it is very energy efficient.”

Price said maintenance on the machine was “minimal” and the results were “consistently good”.

    Tool change times reduce

    February 2016

With time being a factor we are unable to change, Nordell are pleased to confirm a increase in machine time capacity thanks to the installation of a overhead gantry for tool changes. The investment has released an additional 60 machine hours per month.
