Every Little Helps

Central to our Environmental strategy is to only use the energy that we need and to ensure we are not wasting this resource and in turn limiting our carbon footprint.

 

We have invested heavily in infrastructure and machinery to give us large reductions in our energy consumption, including installation of our 270kw Solar panel system and the replacement of older hydraulic moulding machines with new, modern and more efficient electric moulding machines.

 

However, there is a lot more we have done and will continue to do to reduce waste and mitigate our energy usage.

 

We employ LEAN methodology and Continuous Improvement activities throughout Nordell  with all employees accountable for playing their part in keeping our energy usage to a minimum.

 

Some of our additional energy saving initiatives include:

  • Energy monitoring on mould presses and sundry equipment to record usage and identify opportunities to reduce energy and then implementing strategies to reduce energy consumption further.
  • The additional of timers to key equipment such as material dryers and heaters.
  • PIR sensors have been added to all lighting and in some areas, lighting switched off completely where they are accessed very infrequently.
  • Over several years, all of our lighting has been replaced with LED (Light Emitting Diode).
  • Enhanced focus on all wastes to reduce waste and resources.
  • Analysis of key customer issues through establishment of Customer Care team and enhanced focus on the manufacture of parts with high reported issues to target waste reduction on future manufacturing.
  • Completion of a full review of the structure of our team to improve productivity.
  • A review and reduction of office air conditioning temperatures.
  • Replacement of company vehicles with EV models.

 

We train our employees and ensure they are regularly updated on our Environmental policy and goals.
